Parasitology Lab Aide (Day Shift)

Work Shift: 9am-5:30pm Monday - Friday with alternating Saturdays.

The Target Pay for this position is $18.46 an hour. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.

Job Purpose/Overview

The Parasitology Laboratory Aide is responsible for the collection, processing and preparing of fecal samples.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function. • Collect fecal specimens from login, scan into loads, and prepare for set up.

• Meetall minimum departmentrequirements for paraloads and Fcombo set-uprates.

• Accurately building loads and label processing tubes

• Split specimens for Giardia ELISAwhen required

• Find missing specimens. Print and reconcile queue list

• Maintain organization of storagerefrigerator

• Maintain all equipment including hoods, centrifuges, etc.

• Awareness of quality control andcalibration

• Crosstrain and developknowledge of multiple specialties withindepartment/lab.

• Follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures.? Maintains clean and organized work area.? Restocks supplies as needed

• Participates in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation.

• Consult with senior peers on non-complex Parasitology tasks to learn through experience. ?

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Attentionto detail andorganized with ability to multi-task ina fast-paced environment

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Communication skills, both verbal and written

• Proficiency in the English language which allows for participation in teammeetings, accurate entryof data into company systems and understanding of written directions

• Positive, can-do attitude

Working Conditions

• Stationary Position- must be ableto remain ina stationary position for up to 2 hours.

• Constantly operates labequipmentaccurately and efficiently

• Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch

• Required to lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs.

• The abilityto observe detailsat close range

• Extended hours may be needed

• Laboratory environments withpotential biohazards present that are mitigated by the mandatory use of PPE

• Receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments

• Work under close to moderatesupervision

• Potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards. A complete list of such chemicals is available from department supervision
