Location 5240 Fountain Drive,Crown Point, IN, 46307,United States Base Pay $28.34 / Hour Employee Type FT Exempt Required Degree 4 Year Degree Manage Others Yes Description The WIC Breastfeeding Assistant Supervisor supports the daily operations of CoAction’s WIC Breastfeeding Program. This role works closely with the Breastfeeding Supervisor to ensure proper inventory, timely service delivery, and consistent breastfeeding messaging across sites. The Assistant Supervisor also directly supervises Peer Counselors, and promotes breastfeeding through client engagement, training support, and program documentation. This position plays a key role in sustaining a breastfeeding-friendly environment and serves as a knowledgeable resource to both clients and staff.

MAJOR DUTIES

Maintain accurate inventory of breast pumps and breastfeeding supplies across all WIC sites. Track and support timely return of issued breast pumps. Assist in training Peer Counselors and providing support and supervision to the Peer Counseling team. Monitor the breastfeeding-friendliness of clinic environments and provide recommendations for improvements. Distribute and manage breastfeeding materials, handouts, and client resources. Assist with breastfeeding education classes, support groups, and outreach events. Stay current on breastfeeding guidance and ensure materials are updated accordingly. Support data entry and reporting related to breastfeeding activities in INWIC MIS. Participate in regional and state breastfeeding meetings, trainings, and staff development activities. Collaborate with the Breastfeeding Supervisor and WIC Program Director to implement program policies. Serve as Designated Breastfeeding Expert when needed, providing evidence-based counseling to WIC clients. Attend IBCLC/DBE meetings and disseminate information to other local agency staff. Assists in ensuring that local agency staff are properly trained on breastfeeding education and support. Display a positive reflection of the Indiana WIC program, both in the clinic and through community outreach activities, which may include local Farmers’ Market events and collaborations with healthcare providers, non-profit organizations, and other community partners. Develop working relationships with other staff and partnering community agencies. Perform CPA responsibilities if trained and needed, including certification support. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Registered Dietitian or registration-eligible Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or Nutrition Sciences Licensed Registered Nurse Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a health-related field with at least 9 credit hours in nutrition (introductory, lifecycle/maternal/infant, and advanced) CLS, CLC, or IBCLC certification preferred (or willingness to obtain within 2 years) At least one year of experience in maternal-child health or breastfeeding support required Strong customer service, organization, and communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using data systems Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Commitment to culturally competent, participant-centered care Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team Strong attention to detail and inventory management Adaptable during periods of change or policy updates Knowledge of breastfeeding policies and WIC operations Respect for confidentiality and ethical program delivery Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work performed in clinic and administrative office settings Standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 20 lbs) required Frequent interaction with infants, children, and caregivers May require travel to satellite clinics, homes, or community locations Valid driver’s license and insured automobile required Evening and weekend hours may occasionally be needed #J-18808-Ljbffr Kids for the Future
