Advanced LPN | Internal Medicine
Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing compassionate and skilled care in an internal medicine clinic setting. This role supports physicians and mid-level providers by delivering patient assessments, treatments, testing, and education with professionalism and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to clinic policies ensuring patient safety, including infection control and safe patient handling.
- Administer medications via oral, intramuscular, and subcutaneous routes as prescribed.
- Assist providers during procedures, maintain sterile fields, and manage instrument trays.
- Support examinations within the scope of licensure and perform phone triage.
- Serve as a liaison between patients and providers, communicating test results and answering patient inquiries.
- Document patient complaints and visit details accurately according to provider preferences.
- Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain vital signs, height, and weight.
- Manage and update medication and patient summary lists.
- Perform point-of-care lab testing and collect specimens as ordered.
- Educate patients on electronic health record tools and provide supportive teaching.
- Schedule diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including obtaining necessary precertifications and authorizations.
- Train new LPNs and medical assistants in clinic protocols.
- Demonstrate accountability, adaptability, teamwork, and maintain excellent attendance.
Education
Graduation from an accredited LPN program and completion of an approved IV therapy course are required.
Experience
Previous nursing or healthcare experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Certifications and Licenses
Must hold a current LPN license valid in the state of practice and American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
Physical and Mental Requirements
This position requires significant mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
Working Conditions
Exposure to infectious diseases and occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur. The role involves handling communicable diseases through blood and other body fluids with minimal physical discomfort.
