Practice Manager

Salary Range: $155K-$200K Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday, 9-5 Required: Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in a large law firm, including experience in practice management, professional development, and/or human resources Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. About the Opportunity A leading Boston law firm is seeking a Practice Manager to support the strategic, operational, and talent management needs of its Corporate practice. This role partners with attorneys and administrative leadership to improve workflows, oversee performance and professional development initiatives, analyze business metrics, and support section-wide goals. The ideal candidate brings strong law firm practice management, analytical, and leadership skills, along with a collaborative approach to problem-solving. Qualifications & Skills 5+ years of experience in a large law firm, including experience in practice management, professional development, and/or human resources Strong analytical, project management, organizational, and leadership skills Experience analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data Knowledge of law firm economics , employee relations, performance management, and separations Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving abilities Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Ability to work independently and collaboratively while building trust with attorneys and professional staff Key Responsibilities Practice Management: Oversee attorney work allocation, monitor utilization metrics, and improve workflows and standard operating procedures. Professional Development: Coordinate attorney training, mentoring, performance reviews, career development plans, and external learning opportunities. Recruiting and HR: Assess hiring needs, support attorney recruiting and onboarding, coordinate leave transitions, and assist with departures. Business Intelligence: Partner with Finance and other teams to analyze staffing, financial, and knowledge management data and recommend improvements. Team Leadership: Coach and mentor practice coordinators and specialists while collaborating with practice management colleagues to improve processes. Section Administration: Manage budgets, coordinate meetings and events, support communications, and help implement operational initiatives and strategic plans. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a key liaison between section leadership, attorneys, and administrative departments to advance business objectives.
