SENIOR CONTROLS ENGINEER - CUSTOM INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION Location: Hopewell Junction, NY
Base Salary: $120,000-$160,000

Benefits: Medical, Dental, 401(k) Match + Generous PTO POSITION OVERVIEW Our client, an established designer and manufacturer of custom automated machinery, is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to take ownership of electrical control systems from initial design through programming, testing, and commissioning. You'll work on unique automation projects across medical device, automotive, and advanced manufacturing, partnering with mechanical engineers, toolmakers, and customers to bring complex machinery from concept through FAT and field integration . WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Design complete electrical control systems for custom automated machinery.
• Develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and BOMs using AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical .
• Program and deploy Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLCs using Studio 5000 / Logix Designer .
• Develop FactoryTalk View HMI applications.
• Configure and tune multi-axis servo systems, VFDs, and linear motion equipment.
• Integrate industrial networks, remote I/O, pneumatic systems, sensors, and safety circuits.
• Lead hands-on machine debug, I/O checkout, motion sequencing, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) .
• Support field commissioning and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) at customer facilities.
• Provide technical documentation and advanced troubleshooting support for installed systems. WHAT YOU'LL BRING
• 7-10 years of hands-on controls engineering experience with custom automated machinery or custom machine building.
• Advanced Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation PLC and FactoryTalk View programming experience.
• Experience configuring and tuning multi-axis servo systems, including Kinetix or Yaskawa.
• Experience with PowerFlex VFDs and linear motion systems.
• Strong AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical experience.
• Knowledge of EtherNet/IP, remote I/O, industrial sensors, safety circuits, and pneumatic systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent practical industry experience.
• Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
• Keyence or Cognex machine vision systems.
• Industrial robotics, including 6-axis or SCARA systems.
• Vision-guided robotic pick-and-place applications.
• AutomationDirect PLCs or alternate motion controllers. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
