RN Rehabilitation

Job Summary:

The Level 2 Registered Nurse (RN) in Acute Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine provides specialized nursing care to a diverse patient population including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, trauma, orthopedic, neurological, oncology, pediatric, solid organ transplant, and heart failure patients. This role involves clinical and emotional support to patients and families during their rehabilitation journey to regain independence. The nurse collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care in a fast-paced, complex medical environment. A minimum of two years of medical-surgical nursing experience and telemetry skills are required. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients in acute rehabilitation and physical medicine units.
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
• Monitor telemetry and respond to changes in patient status.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including therapists, physicians, and social workers.
• Offer clinical and emotional support to patients and their families.
• Document patient care accurately and maintain compliance with hospital policies.
• Participate in unit activities including holidays and weekends as per policy.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum two years of medical-surgical nursing experience.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Telemetry monitoring experience.
• Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills.
• Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Recent pediatric nursing experience.
• Experience in rehabilitation nursing or physical medicine.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records systems such as EPIC.

Special Considerations:

• Work includes rotating day, evening, and night shifts.
• Shift lengths may be 8 or 12 hours.
• Work includes holidays and weekends according to unit policy.
• Must be willing to obtain a TB skin test as required.
• Position requires strong communication skills and emotional support capabilities.

Scheduling:

• 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Rotating shifts covering day, evening, and night hours.
• Shift assignments follow unit scheduling policies and may include weekends and holidays.
