Description The CT Technologist will perform a wide variety of high quality CT scans while providing excellent patient care. Qualifications Minimum Work Experience : 1 year of clinical CT imaging experience in a hospital or outpatient environment (Required). Required Skills/Knowledge Demonstrate appropriate patient care, technical, procedural and evaluation skills. Perform a variety of CT procedures independently, consistently and effectively. Operate imaging equipment and related components skillfully. Apply good judgment correlating patient history with scanning protocols. Understand imaging protocols for quality clinical and research exams. Possess adequate knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy. Troubleshoot and recognize equipment malfunctions. Required Licenses and Certifications Registered Radiography Technologist (ARRT) (Required). R.T. (R) (CT) (ARRT) certification. Cross‑Trained staff must attain Post‑Primary certification within 1 year (Required). Functional Accountabilities Performance of Clinical and Research Procedures Work with Nuclear Medicine Technologists to perform PET/CT exams. Be familiar with contrast medications used for CT exams. Perform all exams efficiently and adjust scan sequences as needed. Orient new technologists to pediatric imaging protocols. Review departmental and hospital operational updates via email. Quality Control Verify exam requests and patient data accuracy. Ensure correct patient data on images. Follow procedures for warm‑up, phantom scanning, and shutdown of equipment. Check exam orders and charges for accuracy; complete RIS assignments promptly. Respond to performance improvement feedback from Radiology Faculty. Track and record scanner data to meet ACR requirements. Patient Care Maintain cleanliness of scanners and exam rooms; keep exam items stocked. Greet patients/parents respectfully, introduce self and role, and explain procedures clearly. Make every effort to meet scheduled appointment times and accommodate stat or add‑on exams. Communicate with patients/parents throughout the visit. Discharge patients/parents with appropriate follow‑up information. Report patient/family customer service issues to Manager in a timely manner. Share on‑call responsibilities equally with all CT Technologists. Clinical Safety Adhere to OSHA regulations, including no eating or drinking in patient care areas. Follow departmental and hospital patient safety guidelines. Conduct time‑outs before procedures. Inquire about menstrual status and pregnancy potential for female adolescents and teens. Immediately report scanner or room equipment malfunctions. Complete mandatory annual reviews on CHEX. Daily Patient Flow Identify opportunities to perform exams. Coordinate patient throughput to ensure timely, quality service. Communicate effectively when handing off information to incoming staff. Consult faculty and colleagues when confronted with unfamiliar problems. Report personnel issues to manager or radiology on‑call administrator promptly. Consistently review departmental and hospital operational updates via email. Professional Development Maintain R.T. (R) (CT) A.R.R.T. certification. Update CPR certification biennially. Attend seminars and in‑services. Participate in quality assurance initiatives to enhance CT service.
