Contract | 13 Weeks | 12-Hour Night Shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Expected 36 hours/week (48 hours/week available upon request) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 41-bed Medical-Surgical unit serving a post-surgical population including vascular, bariatric, ENT, podiatry, cardiac cath, and open abdominal cases, as well as patients with dementia, AMS, CIWA/detox, and fall risk designations
• Perform and manage clinical skills including PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), stable drip administration (heparin, Lasix, Protonix), epidural management, ostomy care, blood product administration, telemetry interpretation, and wound care (packing, wound vacs, dressing changes)
• Manage pre- and post-heart cath patients utilizing femoral and TR bands (no interventions)
• Float within skillset as first to float; cross-campus float to a secondary Indiana campus and a Kentucky campus is possible with a minimum 2-hour notice; mid-shift float within the same campus may also occur
• Adhere to weekend and holiday rotation requirements: three weekends per six-week schedule and every other holiday
• May be required to precept students and new hires in a teaching hospital environment

Required Qualifications

• Current active Compact RN license required
• AHA BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum two years of strong Medical-Surgical experience
• At least one prior travel assignment required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
• Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with complex post-surgical patient populations including Whipple procedures, thyroid surgeries, and vascular cases
• Strong telemetry interpretation and critical thinking skills
• Adaptable, resilient, and collaborative with demonstrated ability to manage change in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with q2-hour turn protocols and high-acuity fall risk management
