Incorporates knowledge of the nursing process and the professional standards of nursing in daily practice. Applies knowledge of growth and development to perform detailed assignments/interventions. Provides consistent care based on the changing physical and psychosocial needs, unique to the patient in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of Pender Community Health.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES

• Works closely with assigned staff to ensure interventions/documentation, job specific to RN are completed on assigned patients. Assesses and interprets patients' status/information, prioritizes, initiates and delegates appropriate interventions, administer medication and treatments safely, documents all information pertinent to patient condition.
• Assists with orientation of new nursing staff in the following areas: Specialty Clinics and Surgery.
• Contacts the referring physician's clinic and obtain the physician dictation and any other pertinent information such as lab results or x-rays, and schedule surgery cases for the specialist and notify the surgery manager and PCH staff of times and dates of surgery.
• Review chart prior to exam to ensure that all reports are available to facilitate timeliness of the physician's exam and send questionnaires to patients of specialists that require them. Prepare all exam rooms for each specialty clinic with the proper equipment and supplies and update the patient's chart each visit by checking current medications and allergies. Monitor and records patient's vital signs, height/weight, and report deviations from normal to physician.
• Performs pre and post-op care of GI patients. Contacts the surgical patient to provide information regarding surgery.
• Assist physician during treatment and examination of patient, including specialized procedures.
• Calculates, prepares and administers medications oral, injectable, suppository, topical, instillations, irrigations, inhalants and IV medications within scope of practice.
• Educating patient through all encounters from scheduling through admission to discharge.
• Operates multiple line telephone system, receives and relays incoming, outgoing and internal calls, obtains general information from patient and hands out paperwork. Enter patient information and schedules follow up appointments.
• Requisitions supplies from materials management and miscellaneous other duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Hours: Minimum 36 hours/week, Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm, rotating on-call for surgery for nights, weekends, and holidays

Education, Experience:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school
• One to two years' experience preferred.

Certificates, Licensure, Registrations:

• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska or licensed compact state
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or ability to obtain upon hire.
