PACU Registered Nurse (RN) Position

Job Description

This is a 13-week contract position for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The RN will provide care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures across various settings, including inpatient and outpatient PACU, surgery center, and anesthesia clinic.

Responsibilities

• Provide post-anesthesia care to patients in Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery.
• Monitor patient vital signs and level of consciousness post-surgery.
• Administer medications and perform nursing interventions as needed.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Complete all necessary documentation and participate in patient education.
• Participate in weekend and holiday call rotations as required.

Schedule

The shifts vary, predominantly working 12-hour days, with additional shifts possibly including 8-, 9-, or 11-hour workdays. Flexibility is a must as staff are expected to stay until all patient cases are completed for the day.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN license.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC.
• Experience in post-anesthesia care preferred.
• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythms.
