Associate Distribution Engineer

Associate Distribution EngineerLeidos is seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer to work in either our Framingham, MA office or the New Hampshire area.In this role, you can also expect to gain experience/expertise in:NESC expertiseStructural Pole ModelingElectrical Power CalculationsGIS DesignInteractions with other disciplines (Substation, Protection & Controls, and Civil Structural)***This position requires the selected candidate to work approximately 6 months via a temporary contractor with the possibility of converting to a direct Leidos employee at the completion of that timeframe.***The successful candidate will develop construction work packages for the electric distribution system using various software systems and construction standards. Distribution systems may be in an OH, UG, or URD environment. Project work may include new business and reliability designs. Work packages will be developed using Bentley Open utilities Design, Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Work Management Systems (WMS), and other client systems. Project work will require performing engineering calculations that may include: structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, transformer sizing, voltage drop and flicker, and coordination of protective devices. Assignments may also include: preparing forestry trimming requests, facilitating permit and Right-of-Way acquisition, development of a BOM, estimating costs, and customer advocacy such as acquiring easements.
