Maintenance Mechanic

Position Overview We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our growing Georgia team at the Mission mine site in Winokur, GA. The role reports to the Maintenance First Line Supervisor and involves highly skilled maintenance, installation, repair, and troubleshooting of process equipment and mechanical systems for mining and mineral processing facilities operating 24/7. Key responsibilities include maintaining, servicing, installing/replacing water and slurry pumps, screeners, conveyors, bins, valves, and other mineral processing wear parts, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting operations to maximize equipment availability and reduce downtime. Responsibilities Work in a self‑guided manner in the absence of supervision and demonstrate creativity, sound judgment, and initiative. Report all personal injuries and EHS incidents and assist with safety and environmental investigations. Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all assigned areas. Read equipment specifications, OEM maintenance manuals, diagrams, blueprints, and technical drawings to correctly assemble and maintain equipment. Requisition materials and supplies from stockroom; call vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies and recommend purchases and suppliers. Monitor work done by outside contractors for adherence with company safety and quality standards. Support downtime planning to accomplish required work per agreed cost and schedule. Offer guidance and support to other maintenance personnel to develop in‑house technical expertise. Required Qualifications High School graduate or equivalent. Specialized training in mechanical, maintenance, or a related field. Regularly use hands, fingers, and feet to move levers and turn dials for plant equipment maintenance. Frequently ascends or descends ladders, stairs, elevated walkways, ramps, and uses feet and legs or hands and arms. Perform heavy manual labor, moving equipment and supplies within the plant in various weather conditions. Stand or sit for extended periods (4–6 hours) and lift or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds. Work near operating mechanical parts and mobile equipment, often exposed to wet, humid conditions and vibrations. Have necessary vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Capable of wearing personal protective equipment such as hearing protectors and fall protection. Must be able to perform all duties listed with or without accommodation. Preferred Qualifications Valid Journeyman Millwright certification or equivalent. Welding and rigging certification. +5 years of plant/industrial maintenance experience.
