Associate Child Care Teacher

Summary: Support the lead teacher in delivering developmental and care services to children, ensuring a nurturing and high-quality program within a child development center. Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for children.

Major Job Functions:

• Utilize curriculum materials and methods developed by the lead teacher for individual and group activities.
• Communicate with the lead teacher about the program and how it meets each child's needs.
• Assist in curriculum planning and preparation of materials for daily learning experiences.
• Follow the lead teacher's guidance during classroom sessions.
• Adhere to established center procedures and routines, including diaper changing, emergency protocols, and schedules, independently.
• Engage positively with children, serving as an appropriate role model.
• Participate in parent involvement initiatives such as contributing to newsletters, attending parent-teacher conferences, and meetings.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy learning environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Formal Training:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a professional childcare setting.
• Completion of Early Childhood Development coursework (EDU119) plus six additional hours from an accredited institution; out-of-state coursework must be reviewed by the relevant state division.
• Certification in Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.

Work Experience:

• At least 2 years of responsible classroom experience in a professional childcare or elementary school setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Understanding of physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of children from birth to five years.
• Effective reading, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to observe children attentively and communicate effectively within the classroom environment.

Physical Requirements: This role involves walking, standing, and lifting children and various objects as part of daily activities.
