Job Description
Exciting Night Shift ICU RN Opportunity!


- Shift: 12 Hour Nights (7 PM - 7 AM); Every Other Weekend (EOW)
- Unit Overview:
- Number of Beds: 16
- Nurse-Patient Ratios: 2:1 most of the time
- Required Certifications:
- BLS
- ACLS
- CRRT & IABP training preferred (not required)
- Common Patient Diagnoses:
- CHF
- DKA
- Respiratory Failure
- Metabolic Acidosis
- Renal Failure
- Encephalopathy
- Experience/Skills Required:
- Minimum 2+ years of ICU experience
- Proficient in ventilator management, drip management, DKA management
- Drip Management:
- RNs are required to titrate cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation medications
- Charge Nurse:
- Available on each shift and does not take an assignment
- Support Staff:
- Availability of Nurse Aides/Patient Care Techs based on unit census
- Hospitalist & Intensivist in-house 24/7
- NP coverage 24 hours, MD on call during night shifts
- Respiratory Therapy:
- RT on unit 24/7
- RNs troubleshoot RT equipment such as vents, BiPap, and High Flow
- Monitoring:
- Central monitoring provided; nurses & free charge monitor strips
- Scheduling:
- Self-scheduling with 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
- Flexibility to maintain preferred days
- Weekend & Holiday Requirements:
- 6 shifts in 6 weeks for weekends
- 1 major and 1 minor holiday for spring and fall
- Floating Requirements: Yes
- Dress Code: Royal Blue Scrubs
- Orientation: 2 shifts of unit/department specific orientation
- Charting System: EPIC
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Contract Length: 91 weeks
