Outdoor Recreation Specialist (PART-TIME)

The Educational Services Division of the Santa Clara County Office of Education is now accepting applications for Outdoor Recreation Specialist. The Outdoor Recreation Specialist will organize, participate and supervise safe and suitable activities for children in the outdoor education program at the Walden West Center of the Santa Clara County Office of Education. Employees in Outdoor Recreation Specialist positions are scheduled to work swing shift hours. This position is part-time, in-person and has a work calendar of 10 months, 175 days, 6 hours per day. This position will be temporarily located at Camp Via West (13851 Stevens Canyon Rd, Cupertino, CA 95014) during construction. Any combination equivalent to: Generally, any combination of training and experience that could provide the required knowledge and abilities is considered qualifying. A typical method of demonstrating these qualifications is three years of experience in the natural sciences, environmental education, summer day camp programs or a related field.

A valid first aid certificate and a cardiopulmonary (CPR) certificate A valid California Driver's License A driving record that meets the insurance requirements of the County Office of Education

EXAMINATION PROCEDURES

Assessments and interviews may take place virtually or in-person. Following the final filing date, the qualifications of all candidates will be evaluated. The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a written exam, tentatively scheduled for September 8, 2026. Those who pass the written exam will be invited to participate in an oral examination with subject matter experts, tentatively scheduled for September 21, 2026 . Based on the final scores of qualified candidates, Classified Personnel Services will establish a ranked candidate list. Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for September 30, 2026 . Second interviews may be held in-person.
