The Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC) is a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt, private, non‑profit corporation. The organization’s mission and strategic focus is to strengthen the core assets of downtown by revitalizing and connecting the Central Business District and Over‑the‑Rhine (OTR). 3CDC works in close collaboration with the Cincinnati corporate community and City of Cincinnati to carry out its mission. With an annual operating budget of $26 million, the organization has a team of approximately 170 full‑time staff and 180 part‑time staff engaged in real estate development, real estate management, civic space management and programming and business district management. Real Estate Development – To date, 3CDC has played a direct role in over $2 billion in development projects in downtown Cincinnati and the adjacent neighborhood of Over‑the‑Rhine. In completing over 100 development projects, 3CDC has reimagined key civic spaces, added market‑rate and affordable housing to the urban core and created density through mixed‑use residential and office projects that support local small businesses. Real Estate Management – 3CDC leases and manages over 660,000 square feet of commercial space and over 5,100 parking spaces with annual operating revenues exceeding $32 million. Civic Space Management and Programming – 3CDC manages and programs six civic spaces – Fountain Square, Washington Park, Ziegler Park, Memorial Hall, Court Street Plaza and Imagination Alley. 3CDC hosts nearly 1,600 free family‑friendly events each year at these spaces. Business District Management – The organization manages two special improvement districts – the Downtown Cincinnati Improvement District and Over‑the‑Rhine South Special Improvement District – providing clean and safe services, homeless outreach, beautification efforts and marketing support to both districts. Job Summary The Production Tech supports the successful execution of live events and programs across 3CDC’s civic spaces. The role requires a flexible, adaptable technician who is comfortable working across multiple disciplines including audio, lighting, and basic stagecraft. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player who can succeed as both a crew leader and a peer teammate. They will serve as an audiovisual and theatrical technician at 3CDC civic spaces, reporting to the Production Manager, with additional supervision by the Technical Asset Manager, Director of Event Management, Memorial Hall Manager, and Civic Space Supervisors. They will work with rental clients, partners, and internal stakeholders to fulfill these needs for events. Production Techs are also expected to accept shifts as stage support, supporting the safety and access to our performing spaces during higher‑stakes events. Tasks/Responsibilities Set‑up, operate and strike sound, projection, video and lighting systems for live events, meetings and performances Serve as stage support, stagehand, lighting technician, projection operator or soundboard engineer Execute transitions between events Maintain theatrical equipment Troubleshoot basic audio and lighting signal flow issues and equipment malfunctions Work collaboratively with production staff, venue staff, visiting technicians and clients/performers Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment Follow all safety protocols and venue policies Be adaptable to changing event needs and schedules This job description is not intended to be all inclusive. Qualifications Experience working in live event production, theater or similar environments Working knowledge of audio, lighting and basic stagecraft Ability to lift and move equipment (typically up to 50 pounds) Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and teamwork skills Willingness to work nights, weekends and irregular hours 2+ years experience as a primary technician in a venue preferred Licenses, Credentials, Certifications N/A Skills or specialized knowledge Aptitude in all areas of technical theatre, including lighting, sound (live mixing, mic’ing, stage plot fulfillment), projection / video, rigging and basic stagecraft. Aptitude with Digico 225, Yamaha CL3 console, M32, Behringer Wing, Crestron systems, Hog lighting consoles and / or ETC Eos consoles a plus. Aptitude in video switching and video editing a plus. Knowledge of basic electrical safety and signal flow a plus CPR/First Aid or OSHA training a plus. Physical and Mental Demands Ability to remain calm in stressful production situations. Able to meet strict timelines. Frequently required to sit at a desk/workstation for long periods of time. Ability to work at a computer terminal for an extended period. Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment. Able to speak and hear employees on the phone or in person. Additional mental requirements: compare, decide direct, solve problems, analyze, instruct, and interpret. This position involves working in a variety of indoor and outdoor civic spaces and requires standing for extended periods, physical labor, and adaptability to different event types and audiences.
