We’re looking for a skilled Chemical Engineer to step into a one-year contract assignment at a major chemical manufacturing facility in the Geismar, LA area. This is a hands‑on operations‑focused role supporting water treatment, ammonia storage systems, and plant startup activities — perfect for an engineer who thrives on solving problems and keeping complex systems running smoothly. What You’ll Do In this role, you’ll serve as the go‑to technical resource for several essential plant systems: Operational & Technical Support Perform routine monitoring of water treatment systems (Pretreatment, ROs, Cooling Towers). Oversee NH₃ storage operations including tanks, pumps, refrigeration compressors, condensers, and flare systems. Troubleshoot operational issues alongside operations, maintenance, reliability, and management. Manage media and resin changes to maintain strong water quality and system performance. Provide technical input for capital projects tied to water treatment and ammonia storage. Offer technical support for corrective actions and system improvements. Process Safety & Compliance Participate in PSM activities including MOCs, PHAs, and PSSRs . Support plant startup activities — including willingness to work 12‑hour shifts during NH₃ plant startup rotations. Utilize simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS, HTRI, and PipeFlo for small heat exchanger work and system modeling. What You Bring 5–10 years of experience as a degreed Chemical Engineer . Strong communication and relationship‑building skills across operations and maintenance teams. TWIC card (or ability to obtain one) . Hands‑on experience in plant operations, troubleshooting, or process engineering. Familiarity with water treatment systems and ammonia storage operations. Solid understanding of PSM processes and documentation. Onsite role in the Geismar, LA area.
