COOK (FULL TIME)

Overview Chartwells K12, part of Compass Group, is hiring a full‑time Cook for the Mamaroneck School District (1000 West Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, NY 10543). Applications accepted online only. This position is full‑time; work days may vary, 7:00 am to 2:00 pm. Pay ranges from $19.00 to $20.00 per hour. Referrals of employees earn a referral bonus. Responsibilities Prepare high‑quality food items according to standardized recipes and production schedules. Serve meals or prepare them for delivery using correct portioning, temperature control, and presentation standards. Taste all food items. Collect tickets during service and maintain accurate records of all work. Clean kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high cleanliness standards. Store or discard excess food following safe handling procedures. Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and orderly; store food and supplies per standards. Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed. Assist in production planning, record keeping, and reporting. Assist in ordering and receiving food and supplies. Report maintenance needs, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor immediately. Attend in‑service and safety meetings. Maintain good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers. Perform all duties safely and maintain a safe work environment. Perform additional duties as assigned. Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and temperature maintenance of service items, following HACCP standards. Show personal commitment to safety for oneself and others. Abide by all Company policies, including: Use of medium‑weight cut gloves when handling knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins, or cleaning slicers. Use of oven mitts, fryer gloves, or steamer gloves when handling hot pans. Use of slip‑resistant shoes and proper lifting technique. Qualifications Prior cooking experience required. Ability to perform essential functions of the position.
