State Kansas Postal Code 66223 Job Description Determines appropriate surgical equipment and supplies based on physician’s preference and sets up the procedure room with the correct instrumentation and supplies. Provides visualization for operative sites by applying appropriate methods, including tissue manipulation, retraction, sponging, suction, and irrigation. Positions patients appropriately for best exposure as ordered by the physician, using stabilizing equipment when necessary, and prioritizes patient comfort and safety. Assists with body plane closures, wound dressing applications, and securing drainage systems. Achieves temporary and permanent hemostasis by applying appropriate techniques. Supervises other healthcare team members in the surgical environment. Prepares and maintains the surgical area, ensuring proper disposal of instruments, linen, trash, needles, sponges, and other biohazardous waste. Identifies unsafe or defective instruments/equipment and implements appropriate corrective action. Verifies completeness of instruments/sponge/needle count. Assists the team with safe and appropriate operating room turnover times in an efficient and organized manner. Performs operative shave prep, scrub, or other patient care tasks as assigned by the RN. Completes all annual mandatory educational requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.
