Role Description This full-time, on-site TK/K Mild/Moderate Special Education Teacher role is based in San Francisco, CA. The educator will provide individualized and small-group instruction to transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students with mild to moderate disabilities, aligned with IEP goals and grade-level standards. Daily responsibilities include developing and implementing differentiated lesson plans, adapting curriculum and materials, collecting data on student progress, and collaborating with general education teachers to support inclusive practices. The teacher will participate in IEP meetings, communicate regularly with families and caregivers, and coordinate with related service providers and school support staff. Additional responsibilities include maintaining compliance with special education regulations, managing a positive, developmentally appropriate classroom environment, and engaging in professional learning and schoolwide initiatives. Qualifications Experience supporting students with mild to moderate disabilities, including understanding of IEPs and inclusive education practices. Demonstrated teaching skills in early childhood or elementary settings, with the ability to design and deliver differentiated instruction for TK/K students. Background or training in special education, including knowledge of accommodations, modifications, and behavior support strategies. Strong communication skills for working collaboratively with students, families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary school teams. Valid teaching credential authorizing Mild/Moderate Support Needs (or equivalent) for the appropriate grade level, or eligibility to obtain one as required by California regulations. Commitment to educational equity, culturally responsive practices, and supporting multilingual and diverse learners. Ability to use data, assessments, and progress monitoring tools to inform instruction and document student growth.
