About the Position

Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Sterile Processing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: 3 years required License: Not specified Certifications: BLS, IAHCSMM/HSPACBSPD preferred Must-Have: - Acute hospital experience - Decontamination and disinfection skills - Processing endoscopes experience - Equipment documentation Description: Certifications are required. BLS is necessary. IAHCSMM/HSPACBSPD certification is preferred. Three years of experience is required. First-time travelers will not be accepted. Scrubs will be provided for the dress code. Experience in acute hospital OR is needed. Proficient in decontamination and disinfection using chemical agents is necessary. High-level disinfection skills are important. Manual cleaning experience is required. Proper labeling of instruments is essential. Experience with ultrasonic cleaners is needed. Skills in the use of washers and sterilizers are required. Preparation and handling experience include adhering to aseptic techniques. Organizing trays and placing instruments on trays is necessary. Knowledge of preference cards and proper labeling is essential. Proper selection of wrapping materials and sterilization wrapping procedures is required. Experience in processing endoscopes is a must. Ability to assemble sets and trays is required. Knowledge of equipment documentation is essential. Experience with sterile processing microsystems is needed. Skills in specialty equipment processing such as bariatric, dental, ENT, and endoscopic are required. Biological and chemical indicators knowledge is necessary. Testing and monitoring for gas (ETOH), steam, Steris, and Sterrad are required. Experience with immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS) is essential. Scope and probe reprocessing experience is preferred. Flexible endoscope reprocessing experience is a plus. The ideal candidate will be committed to maintaining a sterile environment. Continuous learning and adaptation to new techniques and technologies will be essential.
