Registered Nurse

Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department is responsible for the provision of nursing care based on standards of care and professional nursing practice; accountable for the outcomes of nursing care delivered in an emergency department setting. Responsibilities Provide safety with blood culture draws, hand hygiene, patient identification, medication reconciliation, and patient medication education. Demonstrate critical thinking abilities with patient care, physician contacts, and Administrative House Supervisors. Handle emergent situations per nursing protocol. Appropriately contact physicians using sound judgment utilizing SBAR for pertinent information. Report critical test results within policy and document per nursing protocol. Education Qualifications Associate\'s Degree in Nursing (ADN) Required Bachelor\'s Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred Master\'s Degree in Nursing (MSN) Preferred Experience Qualifications Previous experience in an acute care critical care setting Preferred Skills and Abilities Works with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers. Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse - South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation with South Carolina Board of Nursing. Required Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire.
