Job Opportunity

Position Overview

This is a night shift position with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 4:1 in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The shift is from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, covering every other weekend and holidays. While there are no on-call requirements, overtime is available for interested staff members. While block scheduling cannot be guaranteed, efforts will be made to accommodate preferred schedules.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine their mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Provide clear explanations and instructions to patients and their responsible persons.
• Utilize clinical judgment to recognize and report changes in patient conditions.
• Contribute to a positive workplace environment by managing conflict through professional communication.
• Meet core measure responsibilities related to patient care.
• Participate in continuing education to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
• Maintain accurate and complete medical records.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse license.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• ACLS certification.
• Experience in a Progressive Care Unit or similar environment is preferred.

Working Environment

The department emphasizes a supportive and collaborative culture. Management is accessible and visible to night shift staff at least twice per week to address any needs or concerns.

Acuity and Patient Diversity

The acuity of patients may fluctuate, with a wide variety of cardiac and respiratory cases managed within the unit.
