APD provides critical services and support for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, Down syndrome, children ages 3‑5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Prader‑Willi syndrome, Phelan‑McDermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. There is no charge or co‑payment for services provided through the Agency. Salary Range Years of Experience 0 – 3.9: $1,814.81 / $47,185.12 4 – 6.9: $1,876.68 / $48,793.70 7 – 9.9: $1,938.55 / $50,402.28 10+ Years: $1,996.29 / $51,903.63 The hiring salary may exceed the maximum posted salary. Specific Duties and Responsibilities This is work providing practical nursing services to developmentally disabled individuals at Tacachale. Work is performed under the direction and general supervision of a registered nurse, and is reviewed for compliance, standards, and procedures. Works in conjunction with the registered nurse to assure continuity of care and adherence to ICF/IDD standards. Prepares, administers, and documents medications and treatments as per nursing policy and procedure. Maintains documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures. Observes, records, and reports physical and behavioral responses to medication and treatment. Provides emergency nursing service within the scope of nursing practice. Assists the registered nurse and/or Licensed Independent Practitioner in clinics, diagnostic tests, and physical examinations. Conduct an initial assessment and provide appropriate treatment as soon as possible after being notified or becoming aware of an injury or possible injury. Complete SectionII of the DDC Incident Report Form in accordance with IM process. Attend interdisciplinary team meetings, special clinics and nursing committees as assigned. Performs related duties as assigned. Position Requirements Must possess and maintain CPR Healthcare Provider Certification. Must possess and maintain a current Practical Nurse license. Must be willing to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency. Must be willing to work beyond the normal work schedule to maintain minimum coverage levels and meet the needs of the Agency. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of Knowledge of Nursing principles, practices and techniques. Knowledge of Human anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook. Skilled in Demonstrates skills in the use of emergency equipment within the scope of training. Demonstrates skills in the use of MS Office Suite software including Word and Outlook. Demonstrates skills in communicating effectively orally and in writing. Ability to Provide emergency nursing care to include but not limited to basic life support, emergency care for choking (abdominal thrust), rescue breathing and use of emergency equipment. Read, teach, and implement residents’ support plans, formal and informal programs/interventions. Work as a team member. Operate software programs to include Word and the Internet. Assess residents’ skills and needs. Keep records on residents’ progress. Determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Utilize problem‑solving techniques. Understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to nursing operations. Assist with evacuation of residents during an emergency. Demonstrate competency, as appropriate, in all areas of training, some of which requires physical activity such as CPR and PASS.
