Job Summary

The Case Manager manages the regulatory process for assigned cases of low to medium and complexity; and identifies and ensures compliance with requirements arising from regulatory directives. The Case Manager will work with internal subject matter experts to develop case materials, including performing policy and quantitative analysis to support PG&E’s desired outcomes.. Case Manager will act as the project Manager for the case to ensure key milestones and required deliverables are met in a timely manner. Case manager will ensure materials support PG&E’s case objectives and will communicate case status or information, strategy, or key issues to PG&E management, CPUC staff, internal and external stakeholders. The Case Manager will support process improvement and other special projects or initiatives and may also act as an expert witness on as needed basis.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland General Office once per week and based on business needs. 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $102,000
Bay Area Maximum: $152,000

Job Description

• Develops and executes regulatory strategy for assigned proceedings to align with PG&E’s goals and objectives;

• Manages multiple regulatory proceedings across various functional teams with demanding time constraints to ensure accurate, complete, and timely submission;

• Identifies the key subject matter experts, forms the case team, develops schedule for case milestones and deliverables, manages issues, leads development of key case materials and ensure adequate support for PG&E’s requests or positions;

• Project manages development of comments, testimony, work papers, discovery responses, settlement documents and communications materials with subject matter experts or case witnesses.

• Reviews, analyzes and summarizes external parties’ testimony or comments including policy and quantitative analysis, discovery, and other case materials;

• Assists in development of cost recovery proposal, tariff changes, accounting mechanisms, advice letters and other proposals for submission within regulatory proceedings;

• Communicates case status, updates or information to PG&E management, CPUC staff and internal and external stakeholders including preparation of strategic briefing materials, summaries, communications, and recommendations;

• Builds broad knowledge of subject matter, case and other relevant proceeding or regulatory filings, identifies key policy issues, provides insight into implications of case developments on the company and proceeding objectives and provides guidance on case strategy;

• Makes recommendations on courses of action relating to comments and proposed decisions and to inform changes to case strategy resulting from analysis, case developments or internal decisions.

• Identifies, documents, assigns and tracks compliance requirements in consultation with the functional area and attorney, consults the CPUC as needed to ensure compliance and proper implementation;

• Develops an advocacy and outreach plan to build relationships to collaborate externally with stakeholders to further the company’s objectives and garner support for internal objectives.

Qualifications

Minimum

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience

• 5 years of relevant experience

Desired

• Ability to review and analyze complex regulatory documents and understand implications to company

• Knowledge and understanding of PG&E and utility industry’s (gas/electric) operations, pricing, accounting, and customer service issues

• Knowledge and understanding of revenue requirements, cost recovery, policy development

• Experience in project management and understanding of case management processes, procedures, and practices

• Advocacy, negotiation, and persuasion skills

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Outlook
