Duties

Help

• Serves as the enterprise technical authority for designing, developing, and implementing user interface frameworks using Blazor, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and custom UI control libraries.
• Designs, governs, and maintains enterprise UI architectures, including component libraries, design systems, style frameworks, and interaction patterns to ensure consistency, scalability, maintainability, and reuse across applications.
• Designs UI and agentic AI features using .NET to improve XML markup and GPO style compliance. Integrates AI with heuristic validation, including XML Schema/Schematron rules, and connects web clients to REST-based AI models.
• Develops, interprets, and enforces UI standards, architectural guidelines, and accessibility practices to ensure compliance with Section 508, WCAG, agency accessibility policies, and usability principles.
• Leads integration of UI frameworks with back-end systems and services, including C#, REST APIs, and application interoperability, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing client-server interactions.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

In addition to the basic requirements above, all applicants must meet the qualification requirements below:

Specialized Experience:

To qualify for the Computer Scientist, PG-1550-13, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-12 level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in other pay systems that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:

1) Designing, developing, and implementing complex user interface applications and client-side architectures using modern web technologies, reusable UI(User Interface) component libraries, and component-based development frameworks,

2) Designing and integrating user assistance features using agentic AI capabilities within the .NET technology stack, including integration of web-based clients with AI models through REST APIs and seamless integration with heuristic-based approaches such as XML Schema and Schematron validation to improve the efficiency and accuracy of XML markup and text correction, and

3) Providing technical leadership and guidance on user interface architecture, framework selection, application integration, performance optimization, modernization strategies, and resolution of complex client-side technical issues.

Education

This position has an education requirement. You MUST provide transcripts to support your educational claims. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Please submit copies of all transcripts, including transferred hours. Basic Education Requirement: You must have completed a bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science that included 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of coursework in any combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science, with at least half of those hours in mathematics and statistics courses that included differential and integral calculus; and that provided an in-depth knowledge of theoretical and practical applications of computer science, including digital computer system architecture and system software organization, the representation and transformation of information structures, and the theoretical models for such representations and transformations.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof that the educational credentials have been deemed at least equivalent to those earned in a conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

Background Investigation :

To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy; this position requires a Moderate Risk Public Trust background investigation. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully complete a background investigation for a Moderate Risk Public Trust. This review could include financial issues such as delinquency in the payment of debts, child support and/or tax obligations, as well as criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs; this process may take 6 weeks or longer. The Agency may rescind the tentative offer if the candidate is unable to pass the background investigation.

A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments, and the candidate is unable to obtain an interim clearance.
