Utility Billing Specialist Customer-Focused & Detail-Driven

Job Overview The City of Pierre is looking for a motivated and skilled Utility Billing Technician to join the Finance team. This full-time position is responsible for accurate and timely utility billing, independently and proactively identifying, troubleshooting problems and customer concerns. The role includes maintaining all meter and utility account records, energy assistance contracts, and processing utility service orders, managing the Bright Energy Solutions Rebate Program, and alternately balancing registers, reviewing entries, and posting the daily bank deposit. Strong systems, analysis, and customer service skills are required. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of customer service, billing, accounting or office experience preferred. Knowledge of customer account management, understanding cash handling, account reconciliation and collections, strong customer service and conflict resolution skills, ability to interpret billing codes and fee schedules, strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy.
