Position Information Posting Number: NONAC3736 Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant Position Type: Non-Faculty Vacancies: 1 Salary: Commensurate with experience Department: MHC Family Medicine Position Summary The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will primarily be responsible for providing community-based, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive care. While maintaining a safe environment, the CMA will effectively communicate with patients to collect information while utilizing technology to provide patients with quality medical care and stellar customer service. This position functions in an ambulatory setting. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of two (2) years of CMA experience. Education requirements: High school diploma required. Current valid certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA). Knowledge of aseptic/sterile techniques and wound care. Skilled in administering medications. Skilled in triaging patient records and maintaining inventories. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Preferred Qualifications Two (2) years of college education or an Associate’s Degree preferred. Job Duties Provide professional medical assistance to patients within an assigned unit including triage and set up. Prepare patients to be treated by specialists. Deliver age-appropriate and culturally sensitive care, maintain a safe environment, collect information, communicate effectively, and utilize technology to provide high-quality medical care and excellent customer service. Perform patient care tasks and selected therapies as delegated by a licensed professional, including patient advocacy, teaching and performance improvement. Assist with daily clinical operations and routine administrative and clinical protocols applicable to a physician’s office setting. Triage and prepare patients for examination and/or specialty procedures. Process patient referrals (urgent and non-urgent), tests and surgery expeditiously. Manage pre-authorization in a timely manner to ensure reimbursement returns. Maintain accurate tracking logs and electronic records of all referrals received with dispositions for Quality Assurance purposes.
