Life Skills Specialist (LSS)

Job Summary The Life Skills Specialist helps participants achieve their goals by providing person-centered, culturally competent, and high-quality support services. This includes coaching, mentoring, and skill development based on each participant's individual goals. The Life Skills Specialist teaches skills related to independent living, personal empowerment, informed decision-making, community engagement, and self-advocacy while providing ongoing encouragement and accountability to support long-term success and growth. This role coaches participants in how to achieve their plan goals, which may include but are not limited to: Self-care and personal hygiene Communication skills Social and recreational skills Self-advocacy Interpersonal interactions Community engagement Nutrition and meal planning Household maintenance Health maintenance Personal planning and organization Budgeting and financial management Accessing community resources and services Job Responsibilities Establish rapport and maintain supportive and trusting relationships with assigned participants. Provide coaching and mentorship that is respectful of each participant's beliefs, culturally sensitive, and personally empowering. Treat participants with respect and dignity while maintaining privacy and confidentiality of information obtained while providing services. Promote independence and integration within the participant's natural environment while minimizing risks to health, safety, and well-being. Assist participants, as needed, in accessing services such as Section 8, low-income housing, public benefits, and community programs. Maintain accurate service notes and participant updates and submit documentation in a timely manner. Assist participants with scheduling appointments, organizing personal responsibilities, and accessing community resources. Support participants in developing problem-solving, decision-making, and self-advocacy skills. Communicate professionally and promptly with the ILS Manager regarding participant progress, concerns, and service-related matters. Participate in annual reviews, quarterly meetings, and Regional Center interdisciplinary meetings as needed. Perform First Aid and CPR as needed in emergency situations. Remain compliant with all required training, policies, and mandatory meetings. Communicate proactively with the ILS Manager regarding participant concerns, suspected abuse, safety risks, hospitalization, special incidents, or situations in which a participant may be a danger to themselves or others. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, or related populations preferred. Fluent in English or Spanish; bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team. Ability to provide services in community, virtual, and office-based settings. Requirements TB Clearance. First Aid/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification before working with participants. Successfully pass a background check. Preferred Schedule Flexible, part-time schedule. Ability to build a caseload based on availability. Mornings, Afternoon, evening, and weekend availability are preferred. Why Join Inspired Living?
