Senior Business Analyst / Data Analyst

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst / Data Analyst to support large-scale healthcare data modernization initiatives within a state government environment. This role serves as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical data teams, translating business needs into clear requirements and scalable data solutions.

The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of business analysis, healthcare data, SQL, data warehousing, and cloud-based data platform experience. This individual will work closely with data architects, engineers, developers, project managers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to support the modernization of enterprise healthcare data and reporting platforms.

Location & Schedule

• Hybrid: Onsite in Quincy, MA one day per week , with occasional additional onsite meetings

Required Industry Experience

• Previous experience within healthcare or state government is required
• Experience working with healthcare data, ideally within Medicaid, health insurance, public health, or healthcare services
• Understanding of HIPAA, sensitive healthcare information, and data privacy requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document detailed business, functional, technical, and data requirements for complex data initiatives.
• Serve as the bridge between business users and technical/data teams, translating business needs into technical requirements, data solutions, and reporting capabilities.
• Perform complex data analysis, data profiling, validation, and SQL querying to ensure data accuracy and identify business insights.
• Support the design, implementation, and enhancement of enterprise data warehouse and cloud-based data solutions.
• Collaborate with data architects, engineers, developers, project managers, analysts, QA teams, vendors, and business stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in requirements gathering, solution design, use-case development, and data platform implementation sessions.
• Create clear business and technical documentation to support development teams and end users.
• Present requirements, findings, recommendations, and project updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including leadership.
• Support AWS and Snowflake-based data modernization initiatives and help establish documented standards, processes, and best practices.
• Assist with BI reporting and data platform training, ensuring end users understand available data and reporting capabilities.
• Contribute to project planning, milestones, prioritization, and delivery while working within established PMO processes.

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience with requirements gathering and business analysis for enterprise data platforms
• Excellent SQL querying skills
• Strong data analysis, profiling, validation, and troubleshooting experience
• Experience with data warehouses and enterprise data solutions
• Experience translating business requirements into technical/data requirements
• Experience working with sensitive healthcare information and HIPAA/data privacy controls
• Strong documentation, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with both business and highly technical audiences
• Experience with at least one BI/reporting platform such as Tableau or Cognos
