With manufacturing, operations and sales, service, and support functions across the globe, your journey at Tennant can take you places you never expected.Role OverviewAs an Application Engineer, you play a critical role in supporting the deployment, integration, and optimization of Tennant’s Autonomous Mobile Robotics (AMR) and Connected Services solutions. You’ll work directly with customers, sales teams, autonomy partners and internal stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and performance of our advanced technologies across global markets.This is a hands-on, customer-facing role that blends technical expertise with solution-oriented thinking to drive adoption and satisfaction.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide technical support for robotic solutions, including configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimizationCollaborate with Autonomy Partner(s), Sales and Product Management to understand customer requirements and tailor solutions accordinglyConduct on-site and remote training sessions for customers and internal teams on AMR operationExecute new software releases using established process including cross-functional collaboration and customer-facing messaging in alignment with Autonomy Partner(s)Assist in the development of technical documentation, training materials, and support resourcesAnalyze field data and customer feedback to identify improvement opportunities and inform product enhancementsSupport global expansion initiatives by enabling successful deployments in new marketsParticipate in cross-functional initiatives to improve integration between hardware, software, and cloud servicesRepresent the technical voice of the customer in internal meetings and product development discussionsRequired SkillsStrong technical aptitude with a passion for robotics, automation, and connected technologiesExcellent communication and presentation skills, especially in customer-facing settingsAnalytical mindset with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issuesCollaborative team player with strong interpersonal skillsAbility to translate customer needs into actionable technical solutionsProficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with SAP and cloud platforms is a plusRequired ExperienceBachelor’s degree required (Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred)3–5 years of experience in application engineering, technical support, or field engineeringExperience working with autonomous systems, industrial equipment, or IoT platformsFamiliarity with direct and distributor sales models; experience in cleaning or mobile equipment industries preferredDemonstrated ability to drive results through cross-functional collaborationWillingness to travel up to 25%; must be able to work at both Eden Prairie and Golden Valley locations as neededTotal Compensation = Pay range + BenefitsPosted salary ranges are made in good faith. Tennant Sales and Service Co. reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualifications of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity. The salary range reflects both entry into the role and future growth.
