Senior Living Traveling Executive Director

We are looking for a Traveling Executive Director to support and lead our community operations, ensuring quality nursing care and regulatory compliance while driving profitability and resident satisfaction. Position Summary As the Traveling Executive Director, you will temporarily fill the Executive Director role in a Cedarhurst community. You will partner with local Executive Directors, support strategic planning, oversee operations, and provide training and mentorship to enhance team performance. This position requires frequent overnight travel. Essential Functions Assist in providing additional training to existing Executive Directors to improve performance. Assist with Cedarhurst acquisitions; work with onboarding Executive Directors to ensure they are trained in policies and procedures. Act as a mentor to existing Executive Directors and support any that may be struggling. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, including group presentations. Lead, staff, develop, and retain a strong team. Maintain a warm, outgoing, compassionate personality and a positive outlook toward change and improvement. Handle confidential information, PHI, and comply with HIPAA guidelines. Organize and multitask with strong attention to detail. Maintain accountability for results and organizational goals. Use analytical and project management skills to drive success. Remain calm in stressful situations and adapt to interruptions. Interact positively with older adults, providing high quality customer service and hospitality. While working in an Executive Director (ED) vacancy: Meet or exceed budgets and property performance goals. Oversee day‑to‑day operations including profit and loss, marketing, sales, regulatory compliance, and workforce quality. Engage in sales and marketing to achieve occupancy and revenue goals. Hire, orient, supervise, evaluate, review, and appropriately discipline subordinate staff. Resolve conflicts with customers, families, employees, and stakeholders. Manage 3‑5 subordinate supervisors overseeing 30‑50 employees across housekeeping, resident care, maintenance, dietary, and office. Physical demands: occasional standing, moving, communicating, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds independently or up to 200 pounds with assistance. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree preferred. State‑required license or certification for operating an Assisted Living/Memory Care center. Licensure must be in good standing. Five (5) years plus of senior care community experience with proven leadership and organizational skills. At least one (1) year of management or supervision experience preferred. Strong business decision‑making aligned with company and employee interests. Ability to demonstrate competence in regulatory compliance. Servant‑leadership qualities: empathy, listening, awareness, persuasiveness. Provide proactive solutions aligned with company vision and values. Working Conditions Walk or stand for extended periods within the community. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing. Effective communication and written interpretation skills required. Lift up to 50 pounds independently; up to 200 pounds with assistance. Follow infection prevention and control protocols, including PPE as required. Participate in staff activities promoting teamwork and morale.
