Routes are run on time, loads are complete and correct, and customers never have to call wondering where their material is. If something changes, you communicate early — not after the fact. Delivery & Transportation Operate tractor-trailer and box/flatbed trucks (manual and automatic transmission) on assigned routes throughout the service area Deliver electrical materials accurately and on time to job sites, contractor yards, and customer locations Confirm delivery accuracy before departure and document any discrepancies immediately Communicate proactively with dispatch and branch operations if a delivery is at risk of delay Vehicle Operation & Safety Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections every shift — no shortcuts Operate equipment safely and in full compliance with DOT regulations and Shepherd safety standards Report mechanical issues, equipment needs, or safety concerns to leadership without delay Maintain current CDL Class A license, DOT certification, and medical certification at all times Warehouse Support Assist with loading and unloading as needed, including wrapping pallets and staging outbound freight Support warehouse operations during non-driving time, including picking and packing customer orders when business needs require it Work collaboratively with the warehouse team to ensure loads are built correctly before they leave the building Customer Interaction Represent Shepherd professionally at every delivery — your conduct is the customer’s experience of our brand Communicate clearly and courteously with job site personnel and contractors at every stop Flag any customer feedback, complaints, or concerns to your Manager the same day they occur What Success Looks Like After 90 days, you and your Manager should both be able to point to these markers: Routes are run on time and deliveries are complete and correct — recurring errors or missed stops are rare Pre-trip and post-trip inspections are completed every shift without prompting Discrepancies are documented and communicated the day they occur — not discovered later Customers and job site contacts report professional, reliable interactions Vehicle is returned in the condition it left — fueled, clean, and ready for the next run Warehouse team trusts that loads you help stage or pack are right before they go out the door Who Thrives Here You take safety seriously — every pre-trip, every run, not just when someone is watching You communicate problems early, not after they become someone else’s issue You take pride in how you represent the company at every delivery You are reliable — your team knows they can count on you to show up ready and execute You treat the warehouse as part of your team, not a separate function You understand that a missed delivery or a sloppy load is not just a logistics problem — it is a broken promise to a customer Qualifications & Requirements CDL Class A license required Current DOT and Medical Certification cards required Minimum 3 years of driving experience with a clean motor vehicle record Ability to operate tractor-trailer with manual transmission Knowledge of air brake systems Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. regularly and perform the physical requirements of the role High school diploma or equivalent preferred Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain through onsite training Available for schedule adjustments as business needs require Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening Strong verbal communication skills — you relay information clearly and on time Familiarity with the area - delivery routes preferred Why Join Shepherd Electric Supply Competitive hourly rate with opportunity for growth Medical, dental, and life insurance Prescription drug coverage Paid vacation and personal time 401(k) with employer match Stable organization with over 130 years of industry leadership A culture where reliability is noticed, ownership is rewarded, and people come first Work Shift and Hours: Monday - Friday, 4:00am - 12:00pm Compensation Details: The expected pay rate for this position is starting at $30.00 - $35.00 per hour depending on experience.
