Registered Radiologic Technologist

The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for patients during a designated time frame. The role specifically focuses on providing care in an interventional radiology and cardiology environment. The patient population consists of those requiring invasive studies related to cardiology or radiology. The technologist will assist the physician in all procedures, providing a valuable service to both the patient and the healthcare team. Key responsibilities include administering contrast material as requested, monitoring patient reactions, and maintaining a sterile field during procedures. The technologist also checks for correct patient and chart identification, compiles pertinent clinical information, and documents accurately. Moreover, the role involves explaining procedures to patients while ensuring their comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality. Additional tasks include assisting with inventory and supplies, instructing new staff, and fulfilling on-call duties as needed. Department-specific duties may include managing peripheral vascular work, central lines, and various types of interventional procedures. The ideal candidate should possess manual dexterity for handling small supplies and demonstrate strong communication and compassion towards patients. Experience with interventional neurology is preferred. The role requires the ability to learn and retain information about patient care and procedures. Overall, the Registered Radiologic Technologist plays a critical role in the smooth operation of the interventional radiology department.
