Principal AI Engineer - Evisort

We are seeking a Principal AI Engineer to join the Evisort AI team at Workday. About the Team The Evisort AI team powers document intelligence and contract management solutions for Workday’s customers. The team builds AI products that read and understand contract language, automating drafting, negotiation, and review to reduce risk and accelerate the deal‑making process. About the Role As a Principal AI Engineer you will design, develop, and deploy machine‑learning products at scale. Your responsibilities include: Leading the design and implementation of scalable ML services in Workday’s ecosystem. Working with LLMs, knowledge graphs, and graph neural networks to build personalized, predictive user experiences. Overseeing the training, deployment, and lifecycle management of ML models across production environments. Collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure high quality, securely engineered solutions. Mentoring and guiding a growing ML engineering team while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Qualifications 10+ years of experience building applied machine‑learning products, including research, design, implementation, and production evaluation. 4+ years of professional experience with deep‑learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow. 6+ years of experience building production‑level ML model hosting services at scale. 3+ years of demonstrated experience with large language models, text‑generation models, or graph neural network models in real‑world use cases. 6+ years of proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or similar). Proven track record of leading and mentoring ML engineering teams and managing the full development lifecycle. Bachelor’s degree (Master’s or PhD preferred) in engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or equivalent. Deep understanding of statistical analysis, supervised/unsupervised learning, and natural‑language‑processing techniques for information retrieval or recommendation. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across teams and stakeholders. Continuous learning mindset, staying current with advances in AI, LLMs, RAG, autonomous agents, and orchestration frameworks. Ability to solve ambiguous, open‑ended problems and technically lead cross‑functional initiatives. Compensation Base salary range for the primary location: $228,000 – $342,000 USD. Additional locations: $206,000 – $370,000 USD. Eligible for Workday Bonus Plan and annual stock grants.
