Position Overview SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST - 195 DAY (Part Time, 195 days per year). Effective 2026-27. Location: Prince William County, VA. Posting Number: 00058844. Department: Eligibility and Child Find. Essential function: Ability to work in person and physically report for work on site. Job Summary This position promotes educationally and psychologically healthy school environments to optimize student learning. The School Psychologist will utilize research-based best practices, assessment, intervention, referral, counseling, consultation, and crisis management to evaluate and provide appropriate services. Essential Responsibilities Consults and collaborates with administrators, teachers, counselors, parents, and community professionals to support the School Division's Strategic Plan. Works with parents and community organizations to promote parent-school collaboration and serves as a resource for educational and psychological knowledge. Provides support to teachers in developing effective instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students through individual or group consultation. Reviews data, assesses educational outcomes, and develops instructional interventions; monitors progress, evaluates effectiveness, and proposes modifications as necessary. Evaluates students using standardized, norm-referenced, curriculum-based assessments, observations, interviews, and data review to determine educational needs and design interventions. Participates in the special education eligibility process, interprets psychological data, and synthesizes information to determine appropriate educational services. Assists special education teachers in developing goals, strategies, and outcome measurements for students with special needs. Collaborates with school personnel to design, implement, and evaluate programs in classroom management, social skills, conflict resolution, decision making, and life skills. Provides individual and group counseling, classroom instruction, and consultation to promote positive social, emotional, and academic development. Leads school and division-wide programs and initiatives supporting students, staff, and families in crisis situations, collaborating with community professionals in prevention, response, and management. Assesses seriousness of student threatening behaviors to determine action plans and ensures rights of students with disabilities who engage in threatening behaviors. Educates students, staff, and the community to recognize and utilize diverse talents and strengths. Maintains safeguards for privacy and confidentiality as per regulations and professional ethics. Employs research-based practices. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Master's degree in School Psychology with a minimum of 60 graduate semester hours, specialist level. Certification and License: Virginia Department of Education school psychologist or eligibility for state certification. Work Environment Work conducted in standard indoor office, classroom, or indoor environment. The environment may involve occasional noise, exposure to computer screens, crowded conditions, and minor heating, cooling, or ventilation issues.
