Recycling Room Operator

Spiers New Technology, a subsidiary of Cox Automotive, is looking for a Recycling Room Operator to work under the Recycling Center Division. This self-starter will drive production efficiency by meeting required daily production goals and SNT/Cox Automotive quality and service standards for battery maintenance and recycling. The individual in this position may be trained to work all stations within the recycling room. All necessary tools and training for operating and troubleshooting equipment will be provided. This position is performed in a non-temperature-controlled warehouse with dust consistently in the air. A full hazmat suit and PAPR (respirator) are required to prevent dust contamination/inhalation and is assigned upon medical evaluation and fit test completion.

Shift: The shift of this position will depend on the needs of the company/senior management and could change from time to time, including for extreme weather conditions (Summer). The individual who is hired for this position will work second shift which is approximately from 2:00 pm 10:30 pm, but will need to be available to train on first shift for approximately 3 weeks.

Job Responsibilities

• Punctual and dependable attendance.
• Demonstrate and model safety excellence commitment by following all safety/health procedures and with the assistance of department management, implement safety updates throughout the department.
• Follow all company policies and production SOPs are adhered to.
• May perform further cuts on the battery with the bandsaw prior to shredding, adding the batteries to the shredder, sorting the shredded material and removal of the shredded material from the equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, preferred.

• Ability to pass required medical evaluation and fit test for PAPR (respirator).

Physical Requirements

• Individual lifting up to 50 pounds and the use of team lifting or lifting equipment to lift up to 137 pounds.
• Constant sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, lifting.
• Good hand and finger dexterity.
• Good hand and eye coordination.
• Requires physical ability and mental acuity to execute the duties of the position successfully within required timeframes to meet business requirements under safety guidelines.

Work Environment

This position takes place in a non-climate-controlled environment where PPE, hazmat and respiration equipment are required. Due to these requirements, the individual in this position is required to pass a medical evaluation and a fit test to gain clearance to meet the requirements. Recycling Room: The clothing of the individual in this position should adhere to the safety standards for that area. Steel toe/composite toe work shoes, high visibility safety vest, safety glasses and gloves are required in addition to the use of a full Hazmat suit and PAPR (Respirator).
