Title: Senior Site Reliability Engineer
Location: El Segundo, CA (On-Site)
Type: Contract to hire
Pay: $140,000 - $180,000
Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to lead the deployment, maintenance, and operations of mission-critical applications and infrastructure supporting spacecraft and company-wide systems. This role requires a software engineering mindset focused on building highly available, scalable, and resilient platforms across cloud, containerized, and embedded environments.
The ideal candidate will design and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions, implement monitoring and alerting systems, and collaborate closely with software and hardware engineering teams to deliver reliable and scalable development platforms. This position will also be responsible for performance optimization, reliability improvements, operational excellence initiatives, and participation in an on-call rotation.
Required Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent Site Reliability/DevOps experience
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or similar tools
• Experience provisioning and managing Azure cloud infrastructure
• Knowledge of software-defined networking including VPCs, Subnets, Firewalls, VPNs, and related networking concepts
• Scripting experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages
• Experience supporting Linux and Windows environments
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, performance, and reliability issues
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation

Bonus/Soft Skills:

• 5+ years of Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Systems Administration experience
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized environments
• Experience with virtualization technologies
• Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions using Grafana, InfluxDB, or related tools
• Database administration and data modeling experience
• Strong collaboration skills with software and hardware engineering teams
• Experience supporting highly available, mission-critical production systems
• Ability to travel occasionally to customer sites and other company locations
