This role encompasses strategic planning, policy development, staff management, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliant patient care. The Director of Nursing collaborates with other healthcare leaders to enhance operational efficiency and nursing excellence.Essential Work Functions:Manage and lead all nursing personnel operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standardsDevelop and implement short and long-term goals for the entire nursing departmentOversee recruitment, retention, and professional development of nursing staffMonitor departmental budgets, manage expenses, and ensure financial complianceCommunicate with families, physicians, patients, and staff to address concerns and enhance collaborationEstablish staffing ratios and evaluate nurse performance to promote accountability and professional growthDevelop, revise, and enforce policies to improve patient care standards and ensure compliance with best practicesCollaborate with other department leaders to integrate nursing services with broader facility operationsManage crises and address patient safety concerns, implementing risk mitigation strategiesEnsure the nursing unit is compliant with all local, state, and federal regulationsPerform other duties as assigned within the scope of practiceAdhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standardsRequired Essential Skills:Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skillsThe ability to read, write, and communicate in the English languageAbility to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skillsPhysical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bendInterpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalismTechnical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipmentMental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure.
