Position SummaryStanford Athletics is seeking an Assistant Athletics Director, Broadcast & Technical Operations who will lead the efforts in delivering a first-class television broadcast experience while overseeing the day-to-day technical operations (video boards, audio systems, replay, coaches film). The successful individual will be a self-motivated, team-oriented, organized, problem solver that can orchestrate live event production(s). The Assistant Athletics Director, Broadcast & Technical Operations will coordinate and lead all live event video broadcasts of Stanford Athletics home events and assist with in-game production elements. The position will collaborate with an extensive group of internal and external stakeholders, including facility and operations, marketing, communications, fan experience, ESPN, the ACC, campus organizations, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure the best event viewing experience possible. The position will be responsible for the design, development, execution, and implementation of events as well as the staffing and training of the broadcast production room and in-venue video boards. Staffing will include a mix of full-time and part-time staff that will work directly with the ACC and ESPN. Reporting to Stanford Athletics’ Chief Operating Officer, this position will oversee a staff of eight (8), to start, along with numerous, rotating contingent staff members.Primary Areas of FocusIn addition to the responsibilities and core duties described below, this position will have primary responsibility for the following areas:Broadcast & Production Operations: Lead the planning, production, and execution of Stanford Athletics live broadcasts across linear television, streaming platforms, and in-venue video boards; collaborate with conference and network partners, campus stakeholders, consultants, and external vendors; ensure productions meet established conference, network, and departmental standards; oversee the operational readiness of production equipment and the Production Control Room; and serve in key production roles, including Producer or Director, as operational needs require.Video Board & Technical Systems Management: Oversee the operation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of venue video boards, scoreboards, Production Control Room equipment, Daktronics systems, and related production technology; partner with Facilities and Capital Projects on equipment acquisitions, replacements, and upgrades; and provide technical and production support for television partners, campus events, venue rentals, and other departmental needs.Production Team Leadership: Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate full-time, part-time, freelance, and game-day production personnel; develop staffing plans to ensure appropriate event coverage; and foster a collaborative, high-performing production team through ongoing coaching and professional development.Financial & Asset Management: Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets; oversee procurement, equipment inventories, and lifecycle replacement planning in accordance with University policies; monitor staffing, maintenance, and equipment expenditures; and support payroll reconciliation for event staffing.Strategic Leadership & Partnerships: Serve as the department's technical advisor for broadcast operations and related capital projects; develop policies, procedures, and operational standards aligned with industry best practices; evaluate emerging technologies and recommend long-term improvements to production capabilities; collaborate with Content, IT, Operations, Communications, and other campus partners; and represent Stanford Athletics with conference partners, broadcasters, vendors, and external production teams.Perform other duties as assigned.Success in this Role Requires:A collaborative, team-first approach and a commitment to advancing the mission, values, and culture of Stanford Athletics. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. Perform the full range of the digital media project cycle: initiating, planning, producing, refinement, delivery, and archiving.Develop and market digital services, and manage all aspects of capturing, recording, and transmitting of all digital media productions, video and/or images to internal and external clients. Provide outreach within and across departments of effective applications of digital media.Create and oversee the creation of original visual content and produce high impact visual storytelling. Manage process from conception, to production, to completion across a diverse array of communications channels and media utilizing best practice standards that foster photographic and video excellence.Consult with, and help faculty and staff to incorporate digital media into research projects, presentations, course design and curricula in support of student learning or departmental communication goals.Manage all aspects of capturing, recording, and transmitting of all digital media productions, video and/or images for internal and external clients.May contribute to development of digital media goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and/or manage budget for area of responsibility.May serve as internal project leader and provide guidance and training to other staff.Minimum Educationand ExperienceBachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Expert level technical experience using digital media equipment, video creation, editing software, and/or motion graphics and effects software.Comprehensive knowledge in production techniques including videography, compression and file delivery and other production formats.Extensive knowledge of all aspects of professional quality productions, including field and studio camera, lighting, sound and editing,Proven savvy and understanding of online video environment and online distribution.Ability to independently manage a variety of simultaneous projects within tight deadlines, excellent organizational and time management skills.Demonstrated experience leading and training others.Ability to communicate and articulate digital media products and options and adapt to alternatives when appropriate.Excellent interpersonal skills, mature judgment, and diplomacy required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad audience, including high-level executives and faculty.Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a collaborative team environment.Experience planning, coordinating, and executing archival digitization projects.Full timePosting Date: 2026-08-12
