Phlebotomist

Location: Davenport, FL | Schedule: Full-time, contract, on-site, 6am-2:30pm M-F | Compensation: Benefits are available Overview A healthcare services organization is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join its laboratory team on a contract basis for a projected duration of 3 months, with strong potential for permanent placement. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection and handling, supporting patient care and diagnostic accuracy. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities Update patient information as needed Collect and store specimens according to established procedures Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy Package specimens for transport Store specimen samples at required temperatures, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label them, and follow protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment as required in some states Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Minimum 2 years of experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Why this role This is a contract opportunity, projected for 3 months, with the potential to become a permanent position, offering benefits and a defined schedule of 6am-2:30pm M-F. #J-18808-Ljbffr
