Facilities Maintenance Technician

Position Summary:
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a broad range of preventive, routine, and emergency maintenance tasks to support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of facilities and equipment. This role supports daily operations across multiple sites and collaborates closely with facilities leadership, vendors, and teams to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, dock equipment, and general structure.
• Inspect and maintain warehouse infrastructure such as racking systems, overhead doors, and conveyors.
• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner, troubleshooting and resolving issues efficiently.
• Assist with maintenance and monitoring of refrigeration units, freezer/cooler systems, and temperature controls.
• Monitor building systems using facility management or building automation systems and maintain accurate logs.

Equipment & Safety Compliance

• Conduct routine inspections of safety equipment including fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and exit signage.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors for services such as HVAC maintenance, pest control, fire protection systems, and security systems.
• Maintain documentation to support internal and external audits and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Assist in preparing facilities for safety inspections and compliance reviews.

Preventive Maintenance & Scheduling

• Execute and support preventive maintenance programs for facility systems and equipment.
• Track maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment downtime within maintenance systems.
• Identify recurring issues or potential risks and communicate findings to facilities leadership.

Operational & Project Support

• Assist with minor construction, installation, and repair projects (e.g., shelving, painting, signage).
• Support warehouse layout changes, event setup, and other operational needs.
• Partner with operations teams to minimize disruption and downtime during maintenance activities.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

• 3–5 years of facilities maintenance experience in a warehouse, industrial, or related environment.
• Technical or trade school certification preferred.
• Hands-on experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems required.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.

Preferred:

• Relevant certifications in HVAC, plumbing, or general facilities maintenance.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Working knowledge of safety regulations and building codes (e.g., OSHA standards).
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems (CMMS/BMS) preferred.
