Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of manufacturing and facility equipment. This role focuses on keeping production operations safe, reliable, and efficient by maintaining mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, supporting equipment installations and improvement projects, and ensuring a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on manufacturing equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

• Maintain and repair production equipment such as press brakes, shears, tube bending and forming equipment, welding machines, saws, grinders, polishing equipment, air compressors, and material-handling systems.

• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose issues, and replace common components including motors, belts, bearings, sensors, valves, and related parts.

• Assist with equipment installations, relocations, and improvement projects to support efficient and safe production operations.

• Perform general facility maintenance, including basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and building repairs in production, warehouse, office, and exterior areas.

• Conduct routine inspections of equipment and facilities to identify potential issues and ensure proper operation.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and documentation for all work performed.

• Monitor spare parts inventory, identify needs, and coordinate with outside contractors and service providers as required.

• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas at all times.

• Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, proper use of PPE, and timely reporting of unsafe conditions or incidents.

• Support a culture of safety and reliability by paying close attention to detail and ensuring all work is completed with safety as a primary focus.

Essential Skills

• Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

• Hands-on experience with maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment such as press brakes, shears, tube bending and forming equipment, welding machines, saws, grinders, polishing equipment, air compressors, and material-handling systems.

• Ability to perform general facility maintenance, including basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting tasks.

• Proficiency in welding and welding inspection for equipment repair and fabrication.

• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics and their application in industrial machinery.

• Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements.

• Attention to detail and commitment to completing work safely and accurately.

• Ability to lift up to forty pounds safely and repeatedly as needed.

• Ability to stand for long periods and walk long distances across multiple plants totaling more than 150,000 square feet.

• Ability to climb, bend, crawl, and reach to access equipment and perform repairs.

• Ability to work in elevated areas using approved ladders and manlifts.

• Ability to work effectively in a non-climate-controlled industrial environment.

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Approximately 3 years of experience in a related maintenance or industrial field.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Technical school education or apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, or related trades is preferred.

• Experience as a maintenance mechanic or maintenance technician in an industrial or manufacturing setting.

• Motivated, self-starter mindset with a strong equipment and facilities maintenance background.

• Strong desire to learn from and collaborate with a highly skilled maintenance staff.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced production environment.

• Strong communication skills to work with production teams, contractors, and service providers.

• Demonstrated commitment to safety and reliability in all maintenance activities.

Work Environment

This role is based in an industrial, non-climate-controlled manufacturing plant environment. You will work across large production areas, warehouses, and support spaces, often covering multiple facilities totaling more than 150,000 square feet. The work involves regular standing, walking long distances, climbing, bending, crawling, and reaching to access and repair equipment. You may work in elevated areas using approved ladders and manlifts, and will frequently interact with heavy machinery and production equipment. Adherence to safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and lockout/tagout protocols, is essential to working safely and effectively in this environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Prairie, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
