COMMERCIAL MOVER AND DRIVER

The Commercial Movers and Drivers are vital to successful commercial relocations. They are responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of all trucks/vehicles, as well assisting in the physical relocation of commercial spaces. Qualified candidates must hold a valid driver’s license, meet all company insurance requirements for driving, and demonstrate a high level of dependability and reliability.  

Position Responsibilities

Driving:

·       Operate all company vehicles safely, responsibly, and professionally.

·       Adhere to all local, state, and federal driving regulation & laws.

·       Monitor vehicle functionality and notify the operations team of any necessary service repairs by completing pre- & post trip inspections.

·       Maintain operational safety and cleanliness of all vehicles

o   Safely load, secure, and un-load truck/van contents by utilizing proper equipment and techniques. 

o   Maintain adequate fuel levels before, during, and after each driving shift.

o   Unload all contents (equipment, trash, product, etc.) from trucks/vans after each driving shift.

o   Park, power off, and store all company vehicles as instructed by operations management. 

o   Have movers assist you when backing up the trucks.

·       Uphold a positive attitude, be a model of professionalism, and observe all applicable company policies.

·       Maintain clear communication with the operations team – notifying dispatch of any additional job assignments/instructions, unexpected delays, etc.

·       Complete daily project paperwork – obtaining customer signatures upon project completion, accurately reporting crew hours, and tracking/recording all equipment used, brought back, and/or left on the job site.

·       Complete all other required over-the-road paperwork, drivers log books, driver’s time cards, monthly reports, and accident reports. 

·       Actively assist crew with all project related tasks – moving, pushing, carrying, etc.

Moving:

·       Complete all assigned project tasks using appropriate safety techniques and equipment 

·       Exercise a high level of care & caution when handling customer assets so as not to damage client belongings or surrounding property.

·       Adhere to all directions given by direct supervisors. 

·       Clearly communicate urgent questions, concerns, etc. to crew leads and/or direct supervisors.

·       Maintain a positive, polite, and professional demeanor whilst working and/or engaging with the general public, customers, and coworkers.

·       Be on time and in uniform for all scheduled work shifts.

·       Operate move equipment safely – using it for its intended purpose/functionality only.

·       Assist CHC drivers with pre- and post-shift truck maintenance procedures such as:

o   Checking equipment in & out. 

o   Loading & unloading equipment, contents, etc.

o   Backing drivers into docks or other areas for loading or unloading.

·       Maintain a clean workspace – this includes job sites and the interiors of all company vehicles.

·       Actively assist crew with all project related tasks – moving, pushing, carrying, etc. 

Qualifications

·       Valid, Insurable Operations License & Applicable Certifications of one of the below:

o   Class A Drivers – CDL Certification & Federal Medical Card

o   Class B Drivers – CDL Certification & Federal Medical Card

o   Class D Drivers – Non-CDL

·       Must be able to lift 50 pounds with a team

·       Must have reliable transportation to and from work.

·       Need to have a flexible schedule – work during normal working hours as well as occasional evenings, weekends, and out of town work.

·       High school diploma, or GED equivalent. 

·       Prior industry-related experience preferred but not required.
