Medical Director

MedVet is opening a new veterinary hospital in Huntersville, North Carolina, just north of Charlotte. This advanced 24/7 emergency and multi‑specialty facility will provide state‑of‑the‑art care for pets and serve the local community. We are looking for a Medical Director to lead this new hospital. In this role you will collaborate with the Hospital Director in a dual‑leadership ‘Dyad’ model, oversee all specialty and emergency physicians, and ensure the highest standards of medical care and operational excellence. Act as overall leader for Emergency and Specialty services in partnership with the Hospital Director. Direct the Medical Services teams—including hire, onboarding, development, and performance management. Manage department workflows to ensure efficient, safe, and compassionate patient care. Handle doctor scheduling, department meetings, and related communications. Collaborate with Clinical Services to provide resources that enhance patient, client, and referral partner experience. Oversee hospital finances, inventory, and expenses in partnership with the HD, Regional Medical Director, VP of Clinical Services, and Finance. Prepare and manage the hospital and capital budgets. Lead the hospital’s annual operational plan strategy and execution. Support referral partner outreach and continuing education activities to grow referral relationships. Handle escalated client and referral partner issues, including regulatory board interactions. Qualifications Demonstrated leadership with a track record of success during periods of change and rapid growth. 5–7 years of progressive experience in a veterinary organization. Ability to manage conflict in highly emotional situations with grace and maturity. Board‑certified veterinary specialist, experienced ER veterinarian, military veterinary leader, or equivalent experience preferred.
