The Research Hubat Stanford Graduate School of Business seeks a creative and collaborative Marketing and Communications Manager to lead and support a high-volume, rapid-pace, multi-stakeholder portfolio which includes a variety of marketing and communications projects with Research Hub constituent units (Behavioral Lab; Business Library; Data Analytics and Research Computing; GSB China; and numerous Research Labs and Initiatives).
The ideal candidate will balance in-house content-creation experience (using Figma, Adobe CC, and Google Workspace apps) with the ability to source, scope, and direct strategic vendor services to deliver the optimal combination of speed, quality, and cost. They will develop and steward relationships with staff and faculty across multiple areas and levels to achieve faculty objectives for research execution and dissemination in person, in print, and online. They will be familiar with content management frameworks such as Drupal, custom database platforms like Airtable, mass-mailing platforms such as Marketing Cloud, and research content management systems or academic digital repositories. The Marketing and Communications Manager will contribute to a collaborative work environment and help bring stakeholders with divergent views to actionable consensus in the service of the Research Hub’s and GSB’s collective business goals. They will also have the courage to ask questions, share ideas, and try new ways of working.

The role reports to the Director, Research Operations, with additional project-specific reporting responsibilities based on the scope and scale of the assigned project.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Consult on, recommend, and execute communications/marketing strategies to meet business objectives.
Manage communications, marketing plans/programs to meet business objectives, including collaboration with internal stakeholders and vendor partners.
Advise program managers in developing communications and brand strategy.
Implement integrated marketing communications and brand strategy across a variety of channels (i.e., digital and print).
Design and produce communications/marketing materials from inception to deployment.
Analyze campaign/program/service/event effectiveness used to inform decisions regarding strategic marketing direction, product segmentation, and customer targeting.
Assess communications/marketing opportunities, track trends, and conduct research, including competitive benchmarking. Recommend communications/marketing improvements based on findings.
Guide and enact event communications in partnership with the designated events team and event owners.
Manage and build relationships with vendors/consultants on specific projects.
Manage project/program budget(s) and coordinate invoice processing.
Advise faculty on the development, setup, and implementation of a research lab or initiative.
May oversee interns and other contingent staff; provide staff training.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant communications experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Eight years of relevant experience within an academic, research-based environment.
Demonstrated experience translating complex technical, academic, or research content for general audiences.
Experience in higher education communications, research communications, or similar environments strongly preferred.
Familiarity with business research topics and GSB areas of focus (e.g., organizational behavior, economics, finance, marketing, operations, political economy).
Experience reading and critically analyzing academic papers, working papers, and research outputs across diverse methodologies (quantitative, qualitative, experimental, etc.).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Previous experience in product, program, and/or services marketing.
Ability to drive cross-functional groups toward a common goal.
Experience with project management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Understands how to implement integrated marketing programs across channels, including digital and print.
Prior experience in planning and managing multi-project budgets.
Demonstrated problem solver.
Knowledge of editorial practices, including writing, copyediting, and proofreading.
Strong oral communication and presentation skills.
Knowledge of graphic and general web design.
Experience in web page authoring using content management systems, especially Drupal.
Strong working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, Adobe CC, Salesforce, and Marketing Cloud.
Ability to build detailed project plans and get buy-in from multiple stakeholders
Familiarity with user experience or website design processes and tools.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequently stand/walk, sit, grasp lightly/finely manipulate, and perform desk-based computer tasks.
Occasionally use a telephone, write by hand, and lift/carry/push/pull objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
Rarely sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds.
Ability to use voice to present information/communicate with others.
On-campus mobility.

This position is available under a hybrid work arrangement and requires a minimum of 2 days per week on-site.
The expected pay range for this position is $113,895-$137,766 per annum.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the university reasonably expects to pay for a position upon hire . The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs. At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
