Vice President, Liability Operational Strategy

The Vice President, Liability Operational Strategy is empowered to enhance CorVel’s market presence in the administration of liability claims and the overall strategic goals and vision of the company. This role requires a high level of industry knowledge and relationships with insurance carriers, brokers, loss-sensitive insureds and self-insured entities. Reporting to the Chief Claims Officer, this position will closely collaborate with Product, Operational, and Sales leadership to ensure a cohesive vision and experience is delivered to CorVel customers. This role will have direct oversight and responsibility for the operational needs, staffing and P&L performance of CorVel’s Liability Claim Hubs along with identifying, facilitating and participating in essential strategic projects in support of CorVel’s liability offerings and directly participating in sales presentations/RFP responses and the development of opportunities to support the company’s overall growth. This is a hybrid opportunity.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:With Product, Operations and Sales, establishes a short- and long-term strategy for CorVel’s liability servicesFunctions as a market recognized liability thought leader, who presents regularly at conferences and industry eventsPosition shares responsibility for meeting and exceeding profit and revenue goals annuallyEnhances CorVel’s industry verticals and practice leadersParticipates in Marketing and Sales presentations of prospective clients and cross selling efforts of existing customers Collaborates in the enhancements of corporate objectives, policies, procedures, and practices in compliance with CorVel’s Corporate and Quality Standards Partners with CorVel Operational Leadership to develop/maintain financial analysis practices for operational budgeting and staffing Supports national claims leadership in all aspects of strategy development, alignment and implementationCollaborates with support functions (IT, HR, Legal, Finance) to develop comprehensive solutions, tools and processes for the liability claims operationProvides consistent technical claims training and guidance to claims teams Market facing leader responsible for hub office(s)’ carrier compliance, department of insurance compliance, licensing, and responses to client performance concernsLeads the execution and financial performance of CorVel’s Liability HubsArranges and/or facilitates training of claims teams, as appropriateAdvises, mentors, and counsels management team, as necessaryPerforms additional duties, as assignedKNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary for customer contact, negotiation, presentations, project management and personnel managementEffective quantitative, analytical and interpretive skillsExcellent leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to motivate others and obtain results through teamworkAbility to function effectively under time constraints, consistently meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environmentAbility to travel overnight and attend meetings up to 50%Ability to remain poised in demanding situations and communicate diplomatically via various communication channelsAbility to identify priorities, execute and multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentComputer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize common computer applications; strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is requiredStrong interpersonal, time management, project management, and organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to provide superior service to internal and external stakeholders Ability to maintain a high level of tact and professionalismKnowledge of the entire claims administration proceduresEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree with course concentration in Business Administration, or related field; or 10+ years of equivalent combination of education and experience in a complex insurance, or third party claim organization with significant sales and public speaking expertise Must have significant liability industry experience and in-depth understanding of the TPA marketplaceExcellent written and verbal communication;Speaking as a thought leader at industry events, conferences and employer-hosted eventsPAY RANGE:CorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location. Pay rates are established taking into account the following factors: federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, the geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions. Our ranges may be modified at any time.For leveled roles (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.) new hires may be slotted into a different level, either up or down, based on assessment during interview process taking into consideration experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
