PALATKA - Interim City Manager City of Palatka

Position Type: Temporary (Approximately 6 Months) Position Summary The City of Palatka is seeking an experienced and highly qualified professional to serve as Interim City Manager for an anticipated period of approximately six (6) months. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the City, ensuring continuity of services, and providing stable executive leadership during a transitional period. Important The individual selected for this interim role will not be eligible to apply for or be considered for the permanent City Manager position. Key Responsibilities Provide executive leadership and administrative oversight for all City departments and operations. Implement policies and directives established by the City Commission. Communicate effectively and consistently with the City Commissioners, the public and staff on projects and city priorities. Ensure effective delivery of municipal services and maintain operational continuity. Oversee budgeting, financial management, and fiscal controls. Advise the City Commission on policy, operational, and strategic matters. Supervise department directors and evaluate organizational performance. Represent the City in interactions with stakeholders, including residents, businesses, and governmental entities. Maintain a high level of transparency, accountability, and professionalism in all City operations while maintaining crisis and transition management leadership skills. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field (Master’s degree preferred). Significant executive-level experience in municipal or county government management (City/County Manager or Assistant/Deputy level strongly preferred). Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, organizational leadership, and public sector administration. Strong knowledge of Florida municipal law, practices, and procedures preferred. Proven ability to lead during transitional or interim periods is highly desirable. Compensation Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
