Job Details Location: Huntington, WV 25701 Salary Range: $17.75 - $17.75 hourly Position Description Janitor / Custodian Purpose To perform cleaning tasks in such a manner that there will be minimum interruption or interference with facility operations. Essential Functions Physical dexterity; fine and gross motor ability. Follow written or oral directions. Move objects weighing 50 lbs or less; stoop, kneel, reach, climb, handle, and carry out cleaning duties unsupervised. Education, Training or Experience No specific education or training required; high school diploma preferred. Training or experience performing janitorial tasks preferred. Government security clearance may be required. Managerial / Supervisory Skills No supervisory requirements, but may show another staff member how to perform a task. Goodwill / Human Relations Skills Has contact with the public; tact and courtesy essential. Must demonstrate appropriate work behaviors at all times. Knowledge, Skills and Mental Effort Understand and execute sequence of steps given orally, by sign language, or in written form. Follow a daily and weekly schedule, obey safety hazards. Learn to sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, lift, empty trash, clean bathrooms, operate designated cleaning equipment. Perform tasks according to Scope of Work standards. Initiative and Creativity Use judgment to solve repetitive situations. Type of Supervision Received Intermittent supervision. Impact of Job on End Results Completion of tasks in a timely manner impacts overall contract success. Primary Responsibilities Dust, mop, damp mop, and vacuum floors. Clean restrooms, including emptying trash, cleaning toilets, urinals, sinks, refilling dispensers, sweeping, mopping, wiping walls. Clean glass, stair rails, and walls in corridors and stairwells. Wash lights and fixtures. Notify supervisor when supplies are low or equipment problems arise. Buff floors. Operate designated cleaning equipment. Maintain self and clothing neat, comply with uniform regulations. Secondary Responsibilities Attend in‑service training as required. Assist with snow removal as required. Other duties as assigned.
