Engineering Manager – Middle Office Technology | Macro | Leading Hedge Fund New York | Hybrid Comp:Base + Cash Bonus (2026 buyouts considered) We are working confidentially with a $40 billion hedge fund to identify an Engineering Manager for their middle office technology function supporting macro strategies. This is a senior leadership seat with a deliberate hands-on bias — approximately 50% direct engineering contribution, with the remainder focused on team leadership, architecture, and stakeholder engagement across macro trading and operations. What You'll Be Doing Spending half your time writing, reviewing, and owning production-grade code across middle office and macro technology systems Leading and developing a high-calibre engineering team supporting middle office workflows across macro strategies Owning architectural decisions across trade lifecycle, position management, PnL, and risk infrastructure for macro Driving engineering standards — code quality, OOP fundamentals, design patterns, and system architecture Partnering directly with macro traders, portfolio managers, operations, and risk teams as primary stakeholders Leading design and code reviews, setting and maintaining the technical bar across the team What We Are Looking For Strong C# or Java engineering background — 50% of this role is hands-on production engineering You write clean, deliberate, production-grade code and you know why it matters Deep OOP, design patterns, and system architecture fundamentals Algorithms and data structures — applied instinctively not theoretically Distributed systems experience — CAP theorem trade-offs built and handled in production Concurrency, multithreading, and memory management at a systems level Proven ability to lead and develop engineering teams without stepping back from technical depth Understanding of macro middle office workflows — trade lifecycle, position management, PnL, and settlement Hedge fund or high-performance financial services background strongly preferred Beneficial Prior middle office or operations technology ownership in a macro or multi-asset environment Experience with high-throughput or low-latency systems Messaging framework experience — Kafka, Solace, or equivalent Familiarity with FIX protocol or prime brokerage connectivity #J-18808-Ljbffr
